Welcome to the Impression Obsession 2017 Spring/Summer Release Hop!
We have some beautiful new stamps and dies to share AND a Gift Certificates to give away!...
Today I'm sharing my card using the new Hybrid Inks as my coloring medium. I have to say that 4th of July is my most favorite holiday! The Sun, Fun and Family...not to forget the BBQ!!!!!! :) OK SO! I snagged my Cover A Card stamp sets in CC131 We The People and CC246 Grunge Flag.
I stamped "Grunge Flag" first in Taupe Hybrid ink, then grabbed Cherry and Lapis hybrid inks. I smooshed them onto an acrylic block and grabbed a water color brush and a small bowl of water and colored up the flag. Heat gun to dry. Stamped "We The People" in Slate Hybrid ink. I then used D13552 Bored Silhouette in Black Hybrid ink and stamped it at the bottom. I colored in a small area of sky in Sea Glass Hybrid ink and the grass in Shamrock Hybrid ink.. Distressed my edges and popped the water color panel up on dimensionals.
**TIP**
If you use your acrylic blocks as an ink palette make sure to clean quickly. Being Hybrid inks they were pretty stubborn to get off of my block, not quite Staz On stubborn, but they didn't sit very long....

ReplyDeleteLove this patriotic card. -so stylish- thanks for sharing:)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great time to show off this card which is perfect for Memorial Day as well as the Fourth! I have not used silhouette stamps before. This one is perfect set against the patriotic background. I like that you also grounded the silhouette stamp by putting in the ground and sky. Really nice card!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! Love the background you created along with the silhouette image!
ReplyDeleteAwesome card!!! Love the background! And I'm impressed... I had always heard that hybrid inks couldn't be used to watercolor because they were waterproof. Perhaps the IO hybrids are slightly different? Or perhaps you just have more determination ;-) Either way, great job! Maybe instead of using your acrylic blocks, save some plastic packaging to use as palettes for when you do this again, then you can just throw it out instead of fighting to clean them.

ReplyDeleteA really cool card Kelli and thanks for the tip on Hybrid inks. I have recently got some but haven't used them yet so its good to know not to let them sit too long! TFS!

ReplyDeleteSuch a cool project. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Card! The stamps combined for a great statement. You could always try a piece of acetate for your stamp pad smooching. That way you don't run the risk of ruining your blocks.
