Hey Peeps! I decided to fiddle around with my stencils some more and play again with the Virginia's View Challenge.... I love my head ideas, it's just getting them to co operate... I cooked a couple pieces last night and allowed them to dry while I slept...
Sometimes things don't turn out the way they were "supposed" to! My first card is an example of that.... I used my Heidi Swapp stencil and used stencil paste for my butterflies. This morning I inked up my favorite background stamp the Chevron from SU! I inked it up in Melon Mambo and then aligned my stencil back over the butterflies. I stamped the chevron on the butterflies and YUCK! SO, I grabbed my faithful roll of TP that sits on my desk and cleaned off my stencil. When I removed my piece of paper I was AMAZED at how the swooshie look of the ink mimics the swooshie behavior of butterflies, so I grabbed a piece of Whisper White CS and placed the stencil again. This time I smashed the ink pad beside the butterfly cuts onto the plastic of the stencil... again enters my trusty TP. I swiped the ink off the stencil toward the butterfly cuts. VIOLA! LOVE it! SO, I mounted it onto Melon Mambo and then grabbed my FAVE "Thank You" set from Stamin Up! and inked it up and stamped smack dab in the middle. I think this card SCREAMS "Thank You!" it would have to be for a really big deal... it's like stamping in all caps! LOL
OK, so I told you I cooked up 3 pieces of CS for today... well here is my 2nd card, a bit more subdued but Polka dots make me happy! Something about those little guys... I had purple swiss dot sheer curtains in my purple room when I was little! :) soft breeze, polka dots... **sigh** OK anyway... I placed the stencil back over the dots and colored them up in an altered rainbow color using Tim Holtz Distress Stains. for the top dot mat I just flipped it over as it didn't line up exactly with the bottom one (color wise) and that bothered me... so if it's gonna be wrong it's gonna be WAY wrong! ;) I stamped up a super sweet stamp that I have had for quite awhile and just used it as decoration on my shelves but today... it's the star! :) The stamp is made by Magenta... SO different from their normal images.... it was colored with my Tim Holtz Distress Markers.
OK that's it for me! I'm off to post these to the Virginia's View Challenge.... I really recommend playing along with these challenges, if for nothing else it makes you get out of your comfort zone, for me 2 challenges in a row out of my comfort zone.... ;)

ReplyDeleteKelli, your results are AWESOME! I really like that SWISH of colors on the butterflies. This is where the fun is, right? Unexpected beautiful cards do come from just having fun/playing (just saying)! I love how the stenciled polka dots with that colored sentiment--just lovely, Kelli! So glad that you are having fun with the Virginia's View Challenge! xo
