Challenge 1 Virginia's View

Hey Peeps!  I came across a BRAND NEW Challenge blog the other day when I just *happened* to be on Facebook... LOL  Virginia's View is a new challenge that runs monthly.... this first challenge is Watercoloring.  I have seen SO many gorgeous cards with this technique and it is SO not in my comfort zone... seriously SHOULD be easy, SOUNDS easy... NOT for me is it "easy" in any way.... BUT... I decided to strap on my big girl stampy panties and get busy... I also decided to tackle the Salt part of water coloring.  I did a watercolor resist with salt... Using Hello Doily for my image, it was stamped in Versamark, clear embossing powder heated and then I took my mister and sprayed the heck out of my watercolor paper...I then went crazy with my refill inks of Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana... now the vision in my head was NOT turned out in reality... so what do you do?  take a paint brush and smear that stuff all over, I then grabbed Dave's trusty salt shaker with regular salt and sprinkled it.  Me being the EVER so patient stamper (giggle) I heated up my paper with my heat gun... I then grabbed some TP once my paper was dry and wiped off the sludgy salt.  regular mounting for a card came next...

How funny that all that ink mixed ended up matching Raspberry Ripple... that is the color I used for my sentiment from the stamp set Lots of Thanks.  I framed the sentiment using the Labels framelits and then dug out my old school fancy pins and popped three of those babies in there.  All in all I'm quite pleased with the card.

Moral of the story... NEVER give up... just keep swimming and swimming.... LOL
