MFTWSC74~Aloha

It's time for another sketch at MFT I saw the sketch and it totally screamed SUNSET to me... so I got out my trusty Pan Pastels and created a sunset using the Decorative Doily as my circle element (I punched the pieces out before chalking to avoid the white insides).  I used a bit of Net Ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel along with some white ribbon that I colored with my Touch Twin marker to make it an exact match to my PI's bathing suit.  I decided that the wave dienamic would be a fun element at the bottom turned upside down, kind of unexpected I think.  I kept it tonal so as to not be obnoxious looking but ran it through the cuttlebug embossing folder from SU that is called Houndstooth (your fault Jodi C.) ;) I bit of Red Hot CS to frame the lil PI and DONE.... Notice her Wonderful Island feel?  Yea well, I conjured up my buddy Joni for this one.  She has been missing her Ohana and I wanted to bring a little smile to her face.  <3

Here is my card!!!! Enjoy peeps!!!!

Inky Impressions Inspiration Challenge~KelliJo

Hello Inky Peeps!  It's my first time as the Inspiration Hostess.  I'm here to DAZZLE and INSPIRE YOU! ;)  WOW the pressure... OK, so I have always had an issue with using DP, you know more than 2 pieces....Until I read a tip from Susie Q.  Here is the information she shared:

SUSIE Q-TIP: As ya'll probably already knew, I love mixing patterned papers. I usually max out at 3 or 4 different ones on a single card. What works for me--A large bold, a medium scale repeated pattern that's not as "loud" and another pattern that may be small to medium in scale, as long as the colors work together. When pulling out papers, don't be scared...when they are in 12x12 sheets, that's a lot of paper, and a lot going on visually. Keep in mind you will only be using small "doses" of them on your card. Tie them together with neutral solids and a punch of color in an embellishment or 2. It's a good formula. Try it.

So I tried this formula, and I also found that I could combine DP from the same manufacturer but different collections.  I used Echo Park Victoria Gardens and Hello Spring.  The colors were identical and it provided me with the small med and large theory.  I then used an ice cream die for the Solid punch of color embellishment as well as the three pearls in the top right corner.  To give it some hmmm I rounded 2 corners opposite of each other... Here's my card using Lili's Ice Cream

I hope this inspires you to dig through your paper collections.  Perhaps next time I will inspire you even more.  It's been a ROUGH week.  Have a great day and Hope your Holiday Weekend was full of love and fun!

Speedy Fox and Friends~Heat Embossing

It's time for another challenge.  I oopsied last weeks!!! :(  Glad to see my team mates held me up though with their amazing projects!!!!! ;)  THANKS PEEPS!!!!

OK, this week it's about embossing, HEAT Embossing.  THAT is what got me started in this CARAZY Stamping world.  GOLD EP!!!!  I still love watching that stuff melt!!!!!  I decided that I wanted to share with you a technique that has a name, just don't know what it is.  I call it Smash Embossing!  lol  Here is how I did it and TOTALLY nailed the line up....I was worried that I would be off a tad but that is the beauty of clear stamps.... you can see where you are headed before laying the stamp down!

I stamped my image (Brick Wall BG Stamp) onto Express blending CS and colored it with Touch Twin markers in Brick Brown and Old Red.  I then covered the entire image in Versamark ink and then Tim Holtz Clear EP (embossing powder) heated and repeated 4 times.  Now, before I heated the 4th layer I took my stamp and inked it up with Versamark ink as a release agent because quickly **and I mean QUICKLY** after heating that last layer of EP you stamp your image into the hot soft gooey Embossing powder that is glaze now.  Press fairly hard (depending on the depth of the stamp) and then lift it off.  Guess what?  My stamp stayed on my block too!  YAY!  lol  Here is what it looked like.... see the grooves of "bricks" ???

Now I went ahead and completed mounting my embossed image onto matting and created my card.  I used the sentiment from this set and then took a filigree jewelry finding added a sparklette to the center and some cream lace.  The card base is Kraft to go with that natural relaxed feeling.  and Here is the finished card! :)

Now... head on over to the Marks Finest Blog and play with us make sure you link up!!! :)

Crazy 4 Challenges~ONE Layer lol

Apparently our fearless leader for this month is a funny gal... ONE LAYER... JUST ONE.... ha!  Sadly paybacks can be evil, but... I accepted this challenge and went with a Paper Smooch sentiment and some Tape that I have had for quite some time now, so long that I can't even begin to remember the company... lol  BUT... I stamped my Sentiment in PTI Snow White on my Kraft ONE LAYER card.  Added the tape and then a BG Lacey thingie that I cut down and popped that baby on there to fill some gaps.  Embellie's were "OK" to use... nice of her right? ;)

Here's my card and make sure you go and accept the challenge also and link up!! :O)

MFTWSC73~KelliJo Graduation Card

Hello Peeps!  I played this week with the MFT Sketch #73!  Today our family received an invitation to Graduation for a dear girl, Hailey's bestie and one of our ball players.  It was a thrill to see her Senior picture and the announcement in the mail, brought tears to my eyes.  Olympia High School will never have another "3" like Lexi!!!!  GREAT Left Fielder, Slapper and all around GREAT young lady!!!!!  **sniff**

I decided to pull out my PI Grad Girl for this card.  Our school colors are Blue and White and Lexi's favorite color is purple... being next to each other on the color wheel this combo works JUST fine! ;)  I used Memory Box DP for the card and several Dienamics.

Here is my card!!!!

Inky Impressions~Teacher Appreciation Day

Hey Inky Fans!!!  It's a Challenge day over at Inky Impressions Challenge Blog!!!  It's all about Teacher's!  Although I was NOT a fan of school (a few short years ago *wink*) I still have many fond memories of my teachers from Grade School through High School.   I have one VERY special Teacher that will ALWAYS be my Favorite... My Daddy!!!  He taught 6th grade for 30 years.  The year I graduated is the year he retired....

Anyway, I decided to use Shy Little Nickie for my card.  She is SO sweet!!!  I added an extra flower for the teacher, they say apples aren't really all that good for your teeth, all that acid you know! ;)

Kraft CS was my card and I used the SFYTT sketch for May for this card.  A bit of ruler twill ribbon and some DP covered in Vellum and although it ended up being covered up (boo) I used some old school cursive practice paper, you know with the red dotted lines for the roof of the house and down to the cellar... lol
Clear Gel pen on her "satin" bows and red patent leather shoes.  A Touch of doubled Kraft Twine and it's done! :)

Now head on over to the Inky Challenge Blog and play along!  I'd love to see your creations!!! :)

Well it's time for that set I teased you with yesterday... Scenic Selections will help complete your scenes using other fabulous MFP Sets.  They are perfect sized to get that layer of trees, rocks etc... thrown in there be it Winter or Summer.  I went in between and used it for Fall on this card!  A total CAS card and I LOVE it.  Some Memento Inks and the leaves.  I used the Fall Mini for my Sentiment and this card was done.  I did add a few Viva Pearl Pen "pearls" to my card in Bronze just to tie up that Autumn feel!~  Leave me a little love, maybe I'm the secret "make ya a winner" blog...;)

I still had my chalks sitting out from the last Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge and decided to use them again to create a serene scene.  Pan Pastels were used along with a bit of the Tim Holtz Distress Marker in White, to created the swirling water.  A bit of masking and viola! ;)
Now make sure you leave a comment as you never know who might have the Golden Ticket for a prize!  Then hop along and check out my fellow DT and see what they came up with for this FANTASTIC set!!!!!

I decided to make a Birthday card that fits me to a "T" , ha ha!  I stamped one of the sentiments repeatedly off setting each line in Black ink.  I then stamped the single lady bug on the leaf and chose to only color the lady bug to stick with my Black Red and White theme.  I added some Martha Stewart Paper Tape... FROM CHRISTMAS... make sure you check your supplies, just because it's in the Christmas aisle doesn't make it just for Christmas (*wink*)

I used some dies for the image and matting, some Glossy Accents for the Lady Bug to make her shiny.  I have to share a funny with you.  Sunday night while sitting outside enjoying Mother's Day with the family after work, my daughter all of a sudden says, "I smell ladybugs!"  I gotta tell ya, I am NOT sure where she gets this from, but we hoo hawed over that for quite awhile.  She then goes on to say, she used to sit next to a kid in school that smelled like Lady bugs and Dirt.... Hmmm..... ???  lol  ANYWAY, you came here for the card so let's get to it.  After leaving a comment (winner winner chicken dinner for some lucky commenter SOMEwhere...) check out the link and hop along to see all the other fantastic cards my Fellow DT'ers have created.. JUST for YOU!!!! :)

Friends of Speedy #107~Chalk!

Yep, that's right... dust off those chalks and remember how cool they are!!!!  I used my pan pastels in Red, Orange and Yellow to mimic a sunset feel for my card.  I then used the Vacation Messages Mini stamp set stamping the sentiment and palm tree, wrapping them in Lemonade twine.  The top panel in popped up giving a bit of dimension to this CAS style card.

C4C Inspiration Photo by Bar

Today at the Crazy 4 Challenges Bar is challenging us to use a photo for Inspiration, go with circles or county or "where it takes you"... well, it took me to this stamp from YNS called Little Birdie House.  I used Crate Paper DP called Pretty Party and some red baby brads, a bit of paper piecing and the sketch from Deconstructing Jen #51.

A Card for Kim

I wanted to share a card I created for Kim, the wonderful owner of MFT.  She and Martin have been taking dance classes and had their performance a few days ago.  As soon as I saw the video she posted a card INSTANTLY popped into my head.  I gotta say, I LOVE IT!!!!  Of course making a card for someone special makes it that much easier!!!!
I used the Finishing Flourishes on her paper pieced dress to mimic the dress Kim wore...

Inky Impressions Challenge IIC58

Hello and welcome to the Inky Impressions Challenge for this week!  Today we are sponsored by Teresa Collins, this is a company that carries some BEAUTIFUL papers and matching embellishments!!!  **drool** check out the link and see I'm not foolin! ;)

Today I used Lili Roller Skating and some DP that I found to be bright and happy.  It fits the Theme: THANK YOU!  OK, see?  She's HAPPY she got some pressies and is skating in some shorts which means A) She's GOOD and doesn't fall and B ) It's a SUNNY DAY... now SEE why I used HAPPY papers??? lol

Here's my card!!! :)

MFTWSC70~KelliJo

I finished the Sketch challenge this evening too... it just was a smoooooth flow this evening.  I LOVE that!!!! ;)

I used the MFT Stamp/Die for Up Up and Away along with the Decorative Doily Dienamic.  Some old school MFT Pearls in Cream and Ribbon from MFT also.  I used the Flat Bottom clouds and flipped them over to match up the stamps from the set.  A Silver Spica pen for some highlights and Viola.

MFT Guest DT June 2012

It's time again for the Guest DT Challenge.  With the new format we have a MONTH to complete the challenge.  This month... a sketch!!! That's not all, it's a CARD ONLY challenge!!! WOO HOO!!!!!

I knew the moment I saw the sketch what my card was going to be, and get this... I NAILED IT! lol  It actually came from the brains, to the hands and to my blog!  LOVE!!!!!! ;)

I used the MFT A la Mode Miss You a Latte, the sentiment is from the MFT WTG Coffee, Tea.  Some MME DP from the Miss Caroline - Fiddlesticks collection.  I stamped the image onto Xpress Blending paper and colored it using Touch Twin Markers and paper pieced the cup snuggies.  Spica glitter pen on her pants and the lids, clear gel pen on her shoes, lightly on her shirt and head band.  I chose to use the Fringed Perennial dienamic with some scraps from my card and then added a touch of pink jute to the center after "fluffing" the petals!  Pink Pearls from Kaisercraft on the corners and the sentiment stamped onto the File Tab dienamic.  The ribbon is Watermelon Crocheted trim from the Ribbon Carousel.  The inside uses a sentiment from the ALM Set stamped onto the Polka Dot Greetings & Well Worn Greeting dienamic.  DONE!  A BEAUTY I TELL YA! ;)

Thanks for popping in and fingers crossed!!! :)

Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge 106~3 of Something

Hello MFP Peeps! :)  It's time for another challenge.  GUESS who came up with THIS one???  tee hee.. We were all asked to throw out some ideas to use for challenges and this is one of them I threw out there.  Yup, gotta have multiples of SOMETHING on your card.  Easy Peasy right?  I actually had THREE of THREE things... Yup!  Over Achiever! ;)  I stamped my image 3 times, used 3 pieces of purple seam binding all crinkly and then topped that off with 3 buttons filled with purple twine.  The set I used is from Marks Finest Papers a Heinrich Company called Adirondack Chairs (the link will take you to a mini version).  I have ALWAYS loved these chairs and keep trying to get my Carpenter hubby to make a few... I see them (yea about 6) in a rainbow of colors in my yard.... whatcha think?  Do you have a favorite type of "lawn chair"???

Here is my card.... and after you take a gander and leave me a love note why don't you come and play with us...it's GREAT FUN!!!!! :)

Have a fantastic Inky Weekend!!! <3

C4C135~Gardening

Hello my peeps... apparently I took a week off last week.  Went to load my card and realised... OOPSIE!  NO CARD!!!! ack!  SO, I'm ON IT today... last day off and I played the "get ahead" game!;)  Barbara is our hostess this month.  She is an AVID Gardner and challenged us to created an outdoors/gardening card.  Well, I am using a stamp set that shows what ALL gardens have at night... FAIRIES! tee hee... I am actually really good with outside plants and flowers, inside?  yea ummm, not so much... SO I saw this stamp set a few weeks back and HAD to have it.  Fairies I think are SO cute yet it is almost impossible to find a stamp that doesn't freak me out.  I mean WHY would you make a Fairy look evil with those pointy noses and scary eyes?  WHY I ASK YOU???  The Crafts Meow knocked it out with this one... it's a silhouette stamp!  YAY!  Silhouettes are HOT right now and look... no pointy noses or scary eyes! ;)  The stamp set is called Butterfly Kisses.  I decided to dust off my Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks (lettuce, Stream, Wild Plum, Butterscotch) and a bit of Pearl Mixative and give it a whirl.  I also used my new TH Distress Marker in White.  do NOT be fooled by this pen, it looks like it isn't covering but it has to DRY... Yep!  I'm ok with my dandelion fluff being all white, I just added some glitter pen to it.  I used the MFT Dizzy Doily Dienamic and cut part of it off.  A TH tag was my base for the image (TH Distress inks: Tumbled Glass, Berries and Seedless Grapes I think...)  a piece from a jewelry making card I picked up forever ago and some Websters pages stick pins.  A bit of SU Lace and my card is stylishly classical Grunge!  Yup, that's my story and I'm stickin to it!

Now, head on over to the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog and get some dirt under your fingernails... or Alcohol ink all over your hands... whichever you choose! ;)  DON'T ASK..... tee hee

TCPTUES208

It's time for another challenge at the TCP Bloggity Blog... It's a color challenge... RED, Lime Green and Gold!!!!  Seriously... TOTAL Cinco de Mayo for ya, alas I have no Cinco stamps so we will pretend that it's all about the suds gettin stuck in the 'stache! ... K? ;)

I decided to get totally up in your grill (pun intended) with the papers I chose for these colors.  GLITTER PAPER!!!!  LOVE BLING yes I DO!!!! :) :) :)  Self explanatory on the card, no fancy sketch.  Used some Ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel and some Sparklettes from the same place and the AWESOME NEW STAMP SET from The Cats Pajamas!!!! LOVE me some Alma Humor!!!!  Rumor has it Carole was involved too, say it isn't so... LOL

it DOES fit my Year of KJ scheme too... take me VERY seriously!!!! ;)  tee hee

Friends and Apples!

SO, I love the cards I've been seeing made with The Cat's Meow stamp sets so I had to pick me up a couple ... Here is a card using Apple Picking Time, I did a TON of paper piecing on this card.  Joanne gave a tip awhile back to keep the layers even, so there are 3 layers for the barrel of apples... Yep!  I LOVE that... I also used a YNS Grass die for this and some masking.  DP from I {heart} Papers and DONE! ;)

Inky Impressions IIC57

Hello my peeps! :)  This is my first post as a Inkette!  tee hee... I got the email from Jackie a few weeks ago and lemme tell ya, the happy dance ensued and I was at work... Needless to say, I now have a new nickname after shouting "I'M AN INKETTE!" hahahaha
Jackie provided us still wet inkers with a digi to use and it spelled catastrophe for me.  Bought new ink cartridges (finally) and loaded them... hmmm, black won't print is clogged or sumptin, so I took it to work and lemme tell ya... that was HORRIBLE.  It smeared ink all over THREE pieces of Express Blending CS.  NOT happy about that, but it made me be "creative" and I used the Spotlight Technique! ;)  Here is "Fairy Sitting on a Clothespin"  I used some ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel! YAY  Old Picket Fence DP that I just LOVE and some Sparkletts in Purple!

I have my FANCY new watermark that my friend Becky made for me on here too! :)  YAY!!!  Hope to have an Inkette one soon!!!! :)

Head on over to the IIC Challenge and play along... TWO RIBBONS... yep, that's the key here this week!

Hugs,
kj
